Debt collection
Debt collection is the process of collecting monies owed by a debtor to a creditor pursuant to, for instance, a credit agreement as contemplated in the National Credit Act 34 of 2005 or any other agreement.
Our Debt Collection Department can assist you in collecting what is lawfully due to you as expeditiously, expediently, and cost-effectively as possible by means of both litigious and non-litigious processes, for instance through our contact centre.
Upon consultation we will not only determine your needs, but also your strategy in accommodating debtors in tough financial times. We will guide you and your business in drafting appropriate agreements and documentation to make sure that it complies with statutory and other legal requirements and in ensuring an effective debt collection process.
Our debt collection services include telephonic liaison with debtors to make payment arrangements, obtaining acknowledgements of debt, determining from debtors the preferred manner of delivery of letters of demand or default notices to ensure compliance with the National Credit Act, 34 of 2005 (if applicable), et cetera.
We will communicate with you on an ongoing basis, furnish you with regular reports on the status of your matters and make monthly payment of the debt collected. Our current client base includes commercial banks, managing agents for body corporates, homeowners’ associations and small businesses. Should you need any assistance, contact our offices today to schedule an in-person or virtual meeting with one of our attorneys.
